		Une manifestation conduite par trois candidats, Saïd Sadi, Abdallah Djaballah et Ali Benflis, a été réprimée jeudi soir à Alger par la police anti-émeutes, alors que les sympathisants de M. Bouteflika parcouraient, dans la liesse, la capitale.
		Le principal rival de M. Bouteflika, Ali Benflis, a fait savoir, avant l'annonce des résultats officiels qu'il allait engager des recours.
		Selon Ali Mimouni, porte-parole de M. Benflis, le FLN déplore que ces fraudes, "retardent l'accession de l'Algérie à un système politique démocratique".

		According to the official results, Bouteflika’s archrival Ali Benflis came in a distant second, with 7.9% of the votes, while Islamist Saad Abdallah Djaballah received 4.8%.
		Noteworthy during this presidential election was the army’s decision to remain neutral, especially given the Algerian army’s well-known reputation as the “leader” maker and un-maker in post-independence Algeria.
