This project started in September 1999 and ended on May 31, 2001.
It included three rural towns in the Borgou/Alibori Department in the northern part of Benin: Banikoara, Sinendé and Bembéréké/Beroubouay.
The project aims to: assist local communities with ownership by giving them responsibility to choose and manage their micro-projects; provide appropriate low-cost technologies easily managed by people with relatively little formal education; and reduce the need to use expensive external technical assistance to supervise and manage local environmental health interventions.
