Alice ISD officials are awaiting word from the Texas Department of Transportation to determine if design plans for the city's new middle school are conducive to traffic flow off Flournoy Road.
The additional acres were purchased with a look to the future, which according to the school board, might include a new football stadium 10 to 20 years down the line.
The Texas Department of Transportation received word of these plans and suggested that because of traffic concerns, it might be more feasible to have the entrance facing County Road 344, and TxDOT offered to assist with the project by working on the intersection of CR 344 and FM 1931 to support the increased traffic.

George Washington Littlefield, cattleman, banker, and member of the Board of Regents of the University of Texas, son of Fleming and Mildred Terrell (Satterwhite) White Littlefield, was born in Panola County, Mississippi, on June 21, 1842.
The family moved to Texas in 1850 after a confrontation between Fleming Littlefield and his wife's family.
In the 1890s Littlefield assembled acreage that came to be known as the LFD Farm in Roswell, New Mexico, on which he established an apple grove, grew forage for cattle, recruited his horses prior to the spring round-up, and maintained the pure-bred bulls that he used to upgrade his herds.

The defense will argue that the decision to amputate Alice Limbrick's legs extended her life and that the measure had to be taken because of Alice's severe medical conditions and extreme old age.
The plaintiffs say Limbrick was admitted to Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, where she developed pressure ulcers (bed sores) and eight blisters on both heels and left leg.
But defendant Green Acres contends Limbricks's debilitating condition began during her stay with Baptist Hospital, arguing that the blisters she developed at the hospital were a manifestation of deeper tissue damage.
