AliceHeine (February 10, 1858 – December 22, 1925), styled HSH the Princess of Monaco and the Duchess of Richelieu, was the American-born second wife of Prince Albert I of Monaco, a great-grandfather of Prince Rainier III of Monaco.
She was born Marie AliceHeine at 900 Rue Royale, in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Her German Jewish father, Michel Heine, was a scion of a prominent Berlin and Paris banking family and a nephew of poet Heinrich Heine.

Alice married her first husband, Marie Odet Armand Chapelle, Marquis of Jumilhac, 7th Duke of Richelieu, on February 27, 1875.
Alice's second marriage, to His Serene Highness Prince Albert I of Monaco Reigning Prince of Monaco (as his second wife) occurred on October 30, 1889.
Not only was she the first American princess of Monaco, Alice was also the first American to marry a reigning sovereign and the first woman with a Jewish background to become the legitimate wife of a reigning sovereign.
But perhaps most significant to today’s scandal-percipient society, Alice gracefully withstood the embarrassment of a humiliating public row with her jealous husband and a subsequent marital separation, and forged ahead to become close friends with Britain’s Queen Alexandra and act as hostess of one of the most renowned salons in London.
Although Alice was born in the United States and was an American citizen, her unusual upbringing meant that she was in many ways as much European as American.

New Orleans' very own princess, Marie AliceHeine, was born on Feb. 10, 1858, in the home of her late great-grandfather Dr. Christian Miltenberger at Royal and Dumaine.
Her father was Michel Heine, who along with his brother, had come to New Orleans in 1837 to organize cotton financing.
At age 16, the beautiful, charming Alice accompanied her father to Paris, became the toast of Parisian society and married Duke Armand de Richelieu, who died five years later.
However with the abdication of Napoleon on 30 May 1814 the situation was reversed and the Principality was returned all the advantages, which it had enjoyed before its incorporation into France.
