  Alice Parizeau - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alice Parizeau (born Alice Poznanska) on July 25, 1930 in Luniniec, near Cracow, Poland – died September 30, 1990 in Outremont, Quebec, Canada was a jewish writer, essayist, and journalist.
In France, she studied law and political science and in 1955 visited Quebec where she decided to live when she was offered the chance to set up a public library in Montreal.
The "École Alice Parizeau" in Montreal and the "Bibliothèque Alice-Parizeau" in Saint-Esprit, Quebec were named in her honor.

Jacques Parizeau (born August 9, 1930) is an economist, a noted Quebec sovereigntist and former Premier of Quebec ( September 26, 1994 - January 28, 1996).
Parizeau, an economist who graduated with a doctorate from the London School of Economics in London, England, was one of the most important advisors to the provincial government during the 1960s, playing an important behind the scenes role in the Quiet Revolution.
Parizeau promised to hold a referendum on Quebec sovereignty within a year of his election and despite many objections he followed through on this promise.

Offensive as it is, like that of the English Montrealer who sat beside me in the pub, his comment will also be misunderstood.
