The Alice Bag Band was a punk band which appeared in the Penelope Spheeris film, "The Decline of Western Civilization," filmed in 1979.
They were originally known as The Bags, but due to a dispute over the name with ex-member Pat Bag (nee Rainone, aka Patricia Morrison), the band was renamed Alice Bag Band by the film's producers.
Fans of the band acknowledge that they were more powerful in their earlier version with Pat Bag on bass, Rob Graves having switched from lead guitar to bass in the wake of her departure.

Changing the band's name to the Spiders in 1965, the group was eventually called the Nazz (not to be confused with Todd Rundgren's band of the same name).
According to band legend, the name came to Furnier during a ouija board session, where he was told he was the reincarnation of a 17th-century witch of the same name.
Having officially changed his name to Alice Cooper, Furnier embarked on a similarly theatrical solo career; the rest of the band released one unsuccessful album under the name Billion Dollar Babies, while Mike Bruce and Neal Smith both recorded solo albums that were never issued.

Alice Cooper - Good To See You Again, Alice Cooper- Live 1973: The Billion Dollar Babies Tour - Shout! Factory - DVD
Alice Cooper, the band, not the man, had achieved a tremendous amount of success by the time their high-charting Billion Dollar Babies rolled around with its string of hits and classic non-hits.
It shows the band in their theatrical chops, becoming less a band and more of a stage prop for the man that eventually became known solely as Alice Cooper, stripping the name's attachment to the 5 members of the original band.
The film in its entirety is a camp look at the band as it defies the fame that has been heaped upon it, shunning the sell-out direction of a movie director as he strived to make a masterpiece starring the Alice Cooper band.

The unique thing about this band was they were singing about anguish and sorrow and drug abuse as well and they were actually living it, they were true artists, hard to find these days.
So many bands have come since the days of Alice in Chains that are completely influenced by their sound, their harmonies, and their songwriting, but they were the ones that sacrificed there own existence to make this style of music acceptable.

Alice Cooper was not a figurehead of modern heavy metal as Wayne's World and Circus Magazine have led us to believe, nor was he always the face-painted and commercially successful shock rock maniac he's recognized as today.
The band recorded a single called "Don't Blow Your Mind" in '66, that at the time would be considered a crappy attempt to sound like the Rolling Stones or the Yardbirds.
The band had grown tired of Alice's theatrics and stuff (by this time, the singer had taken the bands name as his own) and decided to take it back to what it originally should have stayed and formed Billion Dollar Babies, with Michael Bruce on vocals.

As for Billion Dollar Babies itself, it may not be the Cooper band's best album, but it was the final release of a quartet of extraordinary Bob Ezrin-produced hard-rock records (rounded out by Love It to Death, Killer, and School's Out), and it captures the moment when the band was at their peak.
