	Alien3: 2003 Special Edition (Alien Quadrilogy Boxed Set) (1992)
		I admit that I initially was somewhat displeased with Alien3, mostly because of the shocking character developments that occurred in it.
		Part of the reason Alien3 was almost doomed to receive less than a terrific response came from the fact that Aliens left them little creative wiggle-room.
		Alien3 appears in an aspect ratio of approximately 2.35:1 on this single-sided, double-layered DVD; the widescreen image has been enhanced for 16X9 televisions.

		That the prisoners resemble monks, with their bald heads and their "vows of celibacy", is first seen as something of an ironic joke by the inmates, but it takes on a certain reality : a sealed, monastic community forced to contemplate the end.
		As in SE7EN, Fincher's most unsettling images linger not on killing but on the remains of bodies -- the autopsy of the child, the diced flesh of a convict hanging off the walls, and a scene where one survivor's face is sprayed with the blood of a friend as he watches him killed.
		Alien3 moves from sin to ambiguous redemption, SE7EN goes the other way, beginning with a weird but mundane depression (living in New York) and gradually attains a critical level toward sin where the process of enunciation implies an agent whom Freeman and Pitt must capture, in other words define.

		However, I think that's a fault inherent in the script itself, not a problem that resulted from Fincher's direction; he keeps the picture flowing along at a nice pace, and his knack for the visual realm helps spice up quite a lot of less than scintillating material.
		Alien3 includes the same four trailers (one per film) that come with the Aliens and Resurrection DVDs.
		The final extra found with the Alien3 DVD is in the booklet, in which we get some passable biographies of cast and crew.

		ALIEN3 wasn't received very well by the general population, I don't blame them for that, the first time I saw it, I didn't really care for it much either.
		The only real problem with ALIEN3, is that it has major holes in the plotline, such simple things as:"How the devil did that egg get onboard the Sulaco?" and stuff like that.
		A shame, because ALIEN3 really has it's bright moments, especially the birth of the "bambi" Alien and the death of Ripley (speaking in the way they're filmed, not what they portray).

		To me, a highlight of the disc is that they managed to do a rather thorough documentary on the film, and yet the director (David Fincher) wasn't involved with it at all, due to continued bitterness over what went on during filming.
		I agree, the Quadrilogy's bonus disc on Alien3 was one of the most interesting to me. That movie went through many extremely different incarnations before ending up as it did.
		Alien3 does it with amazing speed (I think it may be a full three minutes after the opening credits), and slightly less amazing speed in the assembly version.

		Taken apart from the series, Alien3 is a fine film.
		Alien3 succeeded in slamming back down, narrowing it and destroyed what Aliens had so clearly established.

		Alien3 is a much slower paced movie than the rest.
		This is my favorite of the four simply because it has such great visuals and in my opinion a great storyline.
		Let it be known however that most people will not agree with me. In many cases, Alien3 was the least favorite.

		Problem 2 is the lazy script-writing which for some reason deems the relationships Ripley formed with Newt and Hicks (Carrie Henn and Michael Biehn) in the last movie surplus to requirements.
		When the alien gives chase it's as scary as it ever was previously in the series, but the major difference this time is that you'll struggle to feel any empathy for its prey.
		If Ripley was a survivor in 'Alien' and a fighter in 'Aliens', in 'Alien3' she's a cold-hearted quitter, operating entirely without even the smallest smattering of hope.

		(The odd thing is, I said at the time Alien3 came out that I could imagine Danny Elfman’s Batman score over some scenes in Alien3; ironic since Ronenthal followed Elfman on the Batman films.) Rosenthal doesn’t write music, he writes noise.

		This is a wonderfully dark 3rd actwhere arguably the series should've ended(unless they do the alien homeworld movie Alien3 was orginally going to be)The excellent documentary films on disc 2 are a masterclass in how NOT to make a film and show what inspired ideas were wasted in the development of the film.

		It's pretty much unanimous among fans of the movies that "Alien3" is awful.
		The film is dull, depressing and uninteresting Director David Fichner ignored the ingenious vision brought forward by Scott and Cameron and made "Alien3" more of a straightforward horror movie, whereas the other films went much deeper.
		But in the interest of saving time, I'll leave you with a word of advice: don't ever see "Alien3".

		Movie (Alien3): The zooming view down the tunnel in "It's War!" is an Alien3 reference.
		Note: Because the camera is twisting upside-down, and Conker runs to the end of the tunnel and closes a door shut on the spider-like enemies that are chasing him, I am inclined to believe this is an Alien3 reference, but I could be wrong.
