  Aliens - Rotten Tomatoes
Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), the sole survivor from the original ALIEN, is awakened after 57 years of drifting through space, her stories disbelieved by Company executives who tell her that the alien's planet is now inhabited and colonized.
Where Alien was largely a gothic horror flick, packed with suspense, Aliens is an action adventure, loaded with thrills.
Aliens is an exercise in film craftsmanship that has rarely been equaled in the twelve years since its release.

Aliens is a 1986 science fiction horror movie starring Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, Lance Henriksen, Carrie Henn, Bill Paxton and Paul Reiser.
Arriving at LV-426, Ripley and her companions soon discover that the aliens have overrun the colony and that all the settlers are apparently dead.
When Newt is captured by the aliens, Ripley must risk her own life to try and rescue the child and escape from the planet before the colony is "sterilized" by a nuclear explosion.

Aliens (1986) - mistakes, nitpicks, trivia, locations
At the beginning of the movie, when the shuttle door is cut through, the markings and lettering on the transparent cover of Ripley's (Sigourney Weaver) suspended animation pod are different from those that were on it when she went to sleep at the end of Alien.
Between the making of Alien and Aliens the original set of the shuttle was lost/stolen/sold for firewood, so the new one had to be built from scratch.
Of course the alien killed her friends/crewmates and nearly killed her in Alien and she's not happy about that, but her protectiveness toward Newt and the reckless way she fights the aliens make far more sense in the later version of the film, so try and see that version rather than the earlier one.

 Aliens review (1986) - Qwipster's Movie Reviews
Debates may rage on as to whether Aliens is actually a better film than Alien, and I'm of two minds myself on it myself, but regardless of the conclusion, one thing is clear -- they are both exemplary works of science fiction cinema.
Ripley (Weaver, Ghostbusters) started off Alien as your average woman who is thrust into bravery out of necessity, and this trend continues, seeing her go the distance in becoming a full-fledged soldier in doing what's right (from a humanistic point of view).
Aliens is absolutely must-see for anyone who has seen Alien, and both films are essential viewing to anyone who enjoys science fiction and horror.

In the 1986 movie Aliens, Ripley and a team of marines used the motion tracker to locate and track deadly aliens on their mission to save any remaining survivors of a human colony.
The sonar pulse sound and warning pings simulate the sound effects used in the movie when aliens were detected by the device.
At the time the movie was filmed the technology to build a working monitor small enough to fit in the prop was not readily available to prop designers.

Directed by James Cameron from a story written by him, David Giler and Walter Hill, the film is more a high-paced, action adventure than the tense sci-fi horror of the first film.
The story adds much to the overall mythos of the series, including Cameron's introduction of an "alien queen" to the creatures' life cycle, and introduces the character of the android Bishop, the only character except Ripley to appear in more than one movie in the series(not counting ripley's cat).
It has been pointed out by some critics that Aliens works as an allegory of the Vietnam War, in that an overly confident military finds itself in a quagmire battling an unseen opponent they cannot comprehend.

Alien is a terrific movie, but the best stuff is in the first half of the film.
After being her ship's sole survivor from an encounter with one of the alien creatures in the first film, Ripley (Weaver) is found 57 years later (they don't age in those neat sleeping tubes).
Anyway, after dealing with some bureaucratic bs about how she ended up blowing up her ship, she is needed again: the colony where the first alien was picked up has lost contact with the outside world, and they need Ripley to go in with a group of tough as nails marines as a consultant.

During the production of Alien in 1979, the toy company Kenner, having already flourished with its phenomenally successful Star Wars lines of toys, elected to jump at the opportunity to manufacture merchandise for this yet to be finished movie.
Oddly enough, the R-rating and the fact that the movie was not aimed at children didn't seem to stop Kenner in the late 80's, following the release of the 1986 movie Aliens.
Thankfully for Alien fans, the franchise shows no signs of letting up in the near future, with a new movie in the works, new merchandise, and a growing fan base.
