Alissa Czisny was born June 25, 1987 in Sylvania, Ohio.
(Czisny's twin sister, Amber, is also a skater.) She began skating at the age of eighteen months; her mother began taking skating lessons and was forced to bring her daughters with her when they refused to stay home with a baby-sitter.
Czisny says one of her most memorable skating moments was skating just before Michelle Kwan at the 2002 U.S. Nationals.

Czisny won two ISU Grand Prix Series medals during the month of October: a silver at Smart Ones Skate America and gold at Skate Canada.
Czisny skated personal best scores under the ISU judging system at Skate America, then turned around and topped them a week later at Skate Canada.
