ITN operates a radio news service on behalf of Independent Radio News, and between 1996 and 2002 owned a share of London News Radio which was based at ITN's Gray's Inn Road HQ and operated the LBC and News Direct London radio stations.
As of February 2, all bulletins on ITV1 and the ITV News Channel carry graphics based on the Big Ben clock face, but in ITV's logo colours of blue and yellow, and use a theme tune based on the original News at Ten theme.
The new ITV News at 10.30pm launched on 2 February 2004 (the day that ITV in England and Wales came under the ownership of a single company), and is presented by Sir Trevor McDonald.

After considering responses to the Authority's local news consultation, Members of the Authority, at their meeting on 5 September, decided that news operations should remain part of the 'locally produced and presented' programming requirements which currently exist and should therefore be carried out, in the main, from within a station's measured coverage area.
The Radio Authority received forty-two responses to its local news consultation which launched in June 2002, of which five were marked confidential, four of these were from major industry players.

While this approach meant that listening patterns in houses, by women, and during the early morning and evening periods could not be comprehensively established, the survey clearly shows that independent Afghan radio dominates the streets of Kabul by day.
The independent stations also attracted younger audiences, with the average age of an Arman listener at 27 years old, and Killid at 29, while the BBC’s average listening age was 38 and RTA’s was 40.
