Allan Bennett: The Mountain Temple & Order of the Golden Dawn   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
Allan Bennett was born in London and orphaned at an early age.
Bennett was one of the first modern Westerners to actually convert to Buddhism and become a Buddhist monk; this is an event of some significance in the two-thousand year history of Buddhism, and Bennett's name is frequently found in modern books about the history of Buddhism.
Bennett was not fully satisfied with his life in the sangha; perhaps put off by cultural dissonances, or feeling his health (always weak) suffer from the rigors of the monastic lifestyle, or from the humid tropical climate, he returned to England and continued his work in the Western magical tradition.

In the Bennetts' view, the failure of the corporation and the trust to appear in the action means that the trial court lacked jurisdiction to enter a judgment against those entities.
The Bennetts assert that the failure to provide the transcript is attributable to the court reporter's failure to make appropriate arrangements with them to prepare and file the transcript within the required time, and their decision not to pay for the transcript without an assurance that the court would permit the late filing of it.
The Bennetts attempt to avoid the problem created by the lack of a trial transcript by arguing that the errors that they raise can be established through the pleadings and facts that appear elsewhere in the record.

Unfortunately Bennett was a chronic asthmatic and Crowley came to the conclusion that his friend would die unless he went to live in a warmer climate.
Allan, and he alone, could confirm the account which Mathers had given me. If he did so, Mathers was vindicated; if not, it was fatal to his claims.
When Crowley asked Bennett the vital question he had travelled so far to hear the answer to, he must have been relieved, for it was obvious from Bennett's reply that Mathers had been at fault.
