Treman and four others, including Professor Liberty Hyde Bailey of Cornell and the mayor of Ithaca were named to a commission to operate the park, with Treman as chairman.
Robert Treman was also part of a committee that worked on a "State Park Plan for New York." Governor Alfred E. Smith in 1924 supported the establishment of a unified state park system, divided on a regional basis.
When it was suggested that Allan Treman try to revive the flood control effort, he was able to reinvigorate planning, so that in late 1966 then-Governor Rockefeller announced that the state would participate in development of a state arts and recreation area on the west side of the city.

Allan Treman State Park because it's a great social area for dogs to meet other dogs and people to meet other dog owners.
For the state and City of Ithaca to make an off-lead dog park where responsible dog owners can run their dogs off lead without fear of harrassment or the humiliation of ticketing.
Since the largest majority of dogs seen in the A. Treman Park seem to be swimming dogs it would make sense to have water access for those who like to take a dip.

Limited transient slips present the visiting boater with limited options; call ahead to reserve a slip.
We have never found an available empty slip at Treman on our visits, which is unfortunate because this is the only place for visiting boaters to dock overnight in Ithaca.
Some amenities exist but if you can't dock for more than 15 minutes it presents a problem getting to town when it is more than 15 minutes away by foot.
