Leland Allenstein of Whitewater, Wis. received the 1999 Short Course Service to Agriculture Award at the annual Short Course alumni reunion, held in Madison at Jingles.
Allenstein came to Wisconsin in 1950 after graduating from Iowa State University Veterinary school.
Allenstein has written a column for Hoard's Dairyman magazine for more than 25 years, has volunteered at World Dairy Expo since its inception in 1967, has spoken at numerous breed association and twilight meetings and picnics, and in 1987 held a part-time appointment with the UW School of Veterinary Medicine.
It was the home of the 11th Infanterie Division; the 11th Artillery Regiment and the 217th Infanterie Division which was organized in 1939 at Allenstein, of East Prussians of the Landwehr age group

Iowa Street School is a pilot school for the Amateur Radio League’s Education & Technology Program.
