	Deer Management
		Deer hunting at Allerton Park was permitted again in fall 2005 with a nine-week archery hunt on the south side of the river and a three-day shotgun hunt throughout the park.
		In addition to the antler-less first requirement Allerton hunters were required to follow specific rules that included placing their names on all of their arrows, not using any flagging or marking tape and they were not allowed to use any screws or nails on any of the trees they hunted from.
		As has been the case in the past the Allerton hunt will require the closure of some of the Allerton hiking trails, if you are planning on making a trip to the park this fall please call ahead (217-244-1035) to find out which trails are affected by the hunting activities.

		I worked at Allerton Park for four years in th 50's...one of the high lights of my life..I enjoyed working and having fun in the gardens..Had planned to be married in the sunken garden but moved away.
		The people of central Illinois are truely blessed to have such a rare gem so easily available to them for their enjoyment through the generosity and foresight of Robert Allerton & his lover, John Wyatt Gregg.
		I moved away from central Illinois 4 years ago, and the one thing I miss most is the serenity I felt at Allerton.
