Allertonshire students Jessie Roberts and Andy Lagan both finished in the top twenty in their respective races, from fields of more than 300 runners.
Jo Adams, also from the Allertonshire School, finished 162nd in the Junior Girls race; Amy Baines (Risedale) finished 294th in the Inter Girls race and Philip Fitzpatrick (Ripon GS) was 180th and fourth N Y team scorer in the Inter Boys race.
Amateur athletics is a very honest sport and competitors know that not everyone can be a race winner but every student who reaches these Championships knows their achievement and sets a mark for their peers to aim for.

Northallerton, formerly, and still occasionally written North Allerton, is a parish, parliamentary borough, and market-town, in the wapentake and liberty of Allertonshire, in the North Riding, about.

 History of the Parish of Northallerton
Until recent years it was the capital of the North Riding, and when the new county boundaries were drawn, it became the county town of North Yorkshire, and remains the centre of Allertonshire
Until 1871 it was served from Aiskew, and in the Directory of 1881 it is noted that Northallerton is still served from Aiskew, and the total Catholic population of the two towns is 60
Allertonshire is a geographical segment between Cleveland and Richmondshire, and throughout the penal days was well endowed with Catholic Gentry such as the Pinckneys of Nether Silton, the Conyers of Hutton Bonville, the Dodsworths of Thornton Watless, and the Meynells of North Kilvington.

Local industrialist Sir Rupert Nouveaux is attending the school's Murder and Mystery evening and has made the rather surprising announcement that he will be accompanied by all the members of his family.
The son of a cobbler, Sir Rupert left Allertonshire School, Northallerton in 1952, aged 16, to set up his own factory manufacturing Yorkshire Puddings.
