Alliance for Change - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Alliance for Change (Spanish : Alianza para el cambio) was a political alliance formed in Mexico for the purpose of fighting the general election of 2 July 2000.
There were two member parties of the alliance: the National Action Party (Partido Acción Nacional, or PAN), and the Green Ecological Party of Mexico (Partido Verde Ecologista de México, or PVEM).
With 43.43% of the popular vote in a three-horse race, the Alliance for Change's candidate for the position of President of Mexico, Vicente Fox, was declared the winner of the election, putting an end to 70 years of hegemonic rule by the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).

The Alliance recognizes that there are members who have been and continue to be victimized by discrimination and that their problems, therefore, require special attention and measures, in order to be alleviated.
The Alliance believes that heterosexism (the presumption that everyone is heterosexual and that heterosexuality is superior to other forms of loving) has constructed a social edifice which denies the existence of lesbians, gay men and bisexuals, of their relationships and their families.
The Alliance has adopted a broad definition that includes any negligent or delinquent act or behaviour, as well as all incidents in which a worker is assaulted, abused or threatened in circumstances pertaining to his or her job or while at work, which can lead to both mental or physical injury, disease or death.

WPJ Summer 2003 - The End of Alliances By Menon
Changes in the political leadership of European countries, redefinitions of NATO’s objectives, and the fear of America’s wrath will not banish the basic problem, which is that even an alliance that succeeded magnificently cannot long survive the disappearance of the strategic conditions that enabled this success.
The alliance lacks the equipment to deploy significant numbers of combat troops outside Europe, and a dramatic change on that front is unlikely given the past patterns and future direction of European defense spending.
The strains in the Washington-Seoul alliance are, of course, not one-sided.

The Board’s current service function is crucial to the Alliance: harnessing the efforts and resources of partners to achieve a common vision, establishing contacts and fund-raising, creating a high profile for immunization issues, making immunization a centrepiece of global and national socio-economic development agendas and frameworks, and providing advice to other GAVI components.
A fundamental operating principle of the Alliance therefore is the dependence on each partner and constituency to ensure the consistency of the policies and decisions of their individual agencies and constituencies with those of GAVI.
This would help assist the Alliance work to a true sense of priorities not distorted by the ready availability of cash or human resource for a ‘pet project’, and equally avoid the risk that an important task is not tackled for lack of a committed donor.

This suggests that while the school is the central and primary focus, it is surrounded by a series of contexts from the district to the state to the nation, and all of these environments impinge upon the school.
Actions by principals for change, not for the status quo, were expressly valued by the superintendents (Paulu, 1988).
In order to create an internal climate where district change could flourish, superintendents spent time and energy managing the issues external to the schools, that is, being sensitive to the community and being active in public relations.
