The University of British Columbia (UBC) is a Canadian public university with its main campus located at Point Grey in the unincorporated Electoral Area A, immediately west of Vancouver, British Columbia.

 Court rules residence student should not have been kicked out
In a hearing at British Columbia's Supreme Court, lawyers for Farag Omar - a UBC student living in residence - argued that the university had no right to force the student to leave his Acadia dormitory last year.
The university then applied to the BC Supreme Court for a judicial review on the basis that the RTA does not apply to campus residences.
Robin Branson, a member of the Society's legislative committee, added that although the court ruling was critical of UBC, it didn't comment on the issue of jurisdiction itself - one of the main reasons the group became involved in the case.
