		Despite the stars' winning chemistry, and showy supporting turns by Philip Seymour Hoffman and Alec Baldwin, Along Came Polly is a middling effort that should have been much better given the caliber of the cast, which also includes Debra Messing and Hank Azaria.
		And the actor, who's made a niche for himself as the hapless nice guy with minor anger issues and a soft heart, can draw a viewer in so well, we often dislike the woman he's falling for (as in the case with Meet the Parents, where we want him to dump that insensitive, vacuous blonde).
		Along Came Polly has its bright moments, chiefly through its cast, and it's not a bad way to spend a lazy afternoon.

		Polly is a decidedly flighty eternal free spirit, and Reuben lives his life through schedules and order, but her exact opposite disposition on life is the very thing that immediately draws himself to her.
		On their own, Reuben and Polly are original enough character creations, with Reuben a by-the-book straight arrow who assessing every possible risk in life through a percentage and Polly a joyfully disorganized gypsy who never stays in one place long enough to get bored.
