The Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity was organized at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, late in 1902, by a group of undergraduates who were fellow students in chemistry at that time.
His suggestion was Alpha Chi; the Sigma was added at the suggestion of Petura.
After a flurry of rapid correspondence between Alpha Chi Sigma and the Wisconsin Secretary of State, the fraternity was officially incorporated on January 22, 1904.

Pi Phi Chi was the Honorary Chemistry Fraternity of Syracuse University.
The seven active members of Pi Phi Chi were supporters of the idea to start a chapter of Alpha Chi Sigma at Syracuse University, however they were concerned that the alumni of Pi Phi Chi would protest, and would no longer support the fraternity.
In the December 1999 Alpha Chi Sigma Supreme Council Meeting it was decided that the Pi Chapter was to be deemed inactive due to lack of membership.

The shoulder star alpha Ori, Betelgeuse, is a variable red giant; its brightness varies from 0.4 mag to 1.3 mag with no set period.
sigma Ori is a terrific multiple star; in binoculars this blue-white star of 4 mag and a 7th mag companion can be resolved; using a small telescope two closer companions of 7th mag and 10th mag are revealed.

 Kappa Sigma - History
In March, 1925, the Kappa Sigmas were instrumental in starting and "pushing" a drive to raise funds for a new Memorial Union student center soon to be built at OAC.
Kappa Sigma was one of the first four fraternities to re-activate that fall (1945).
The "boarders," however, gradually found accommodations elsewhere and by spring only Kappa Sigmas occupied their house, although conditions were crowded--60 men living in a house built for 38 to 40.
