 Walking West 2
At Nahampoana our guide, Alphonse, showed the two of us around the reserve's well-kept gardens (it used to be a research farm) with their three-cornered palms, spiny Desiderata trees, and stands of bamboo.
Jane carefully took a banana from Alphonse, and held it out to one of the brown lemurs—which immediately snatched it out of her hand.
Alphonse laughed, trying to hide it from them behind his back, and then gave up and started to feed them.

MALACOSTRACA - LoveToKnow Article on MALACOSTRACA
Of lately discovered species the most striking is one of the deep-sea Cirolanidae, Bathynomus giganteus, A. Edwards (1879), which is unique in having supplementary ramified branchiae developed at the bases of the pleopods.
The French authors argue that from the macruran lobsters (Nephropsidae) anciently diverged two lines: one leading through the Dromiidea to the genuine Brachyura; or crabs, the other independently to the Anomura proper, which may conveniently be named and classed as Macrura anomala.
Among the most curious of recent discoyeries is that relating to some of the parasitic Cymothoidae, as to which Bullar has shown that the same individual can be developed first as a male and then as a female.

 Ami's Panda Patch-History
He named this animal Ursus melanoleucus, or “black and white bear” and sent a description of it as well as some skins and skeletons to Professor Alphonse Milne-Edwards, son and later successor of the director of the Paris Natural History Museum.
After examining the specimens, Milne-Edwards concluded that the animal, though resembling a bear outwardly, is remarkably similar to the red panda (the only animal called a panda back then) and the raccoon in bone and dental structures and thus deemed it necessary to name a new genus for it, Ailuropoda.
