Alpine Club, 8 St. Martin’s-place, London, W.C.—This club was founded, in 1857, by about a dozen of the earliest explorers of the Swiss Alps, with the object of encouraging Alpine exploration and travel, and providing headquarters for those who are interested in all subjects connected therewith.
The Apline Journal, a record of mountain adventure and scientific observation—the club publication —is published once a quarter by Longman and Co. The mountaineering qualification of the club is a severe one, the object being to secure that only thoroughly experienced and qualified mountaineers should become members of the club.
The name of every candidate, together with a list of mountain expeditions, or a statement of the contributions to Alpine literature, science, or art, upon which he founds his claim for membership, shall be first submitted to the committee, who shall decide upon the sufficiency of his qualification.

Originally formed as a ski club in 1954, the Ute Alpine Club rapidly became known as a club in which members were involved in all types of outdoor activities.
During the early years of the organization, the club's office was located in a large house known as "Das Berghaus." It became the general meeting place and was also a home for several of the club members.
In addition, the club became highly involved in river running and was, at one point, sponsoring fifteen to twenty river trips a year.

The Alaska Alpine Club "was formed to promote the exploration and enjoyment of Alaskan mountain areas - areas which are unrivaled."
Current club activities include maintaining a climbing wall at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Student Recreation Center, maintaining local climbing crags, conducting a semester-long two-part Ski Mountaineering Class and Technical Climbing Class, and participating in community events.

The camp is a joint initiative of the AAC and the Alpine Club of Pakistan, which sought the Americans’ help because cultural concerns prevented Pakistan’s male climbers from introducing women to mountaineering.

 Alpine Ski Club: Expedition Grants
Awards are granted on condition that successful applicants submit a short report on their sponsored activity within two months of completing the undertaking for which the award is made.
This scholarship was set up jointly by the Alpine Ski Club and the Ski Club of Great Britain as a memorial to Kenneth Smith, in recognition of the work he did in promoting training for ski touring and ski mountaineering.
It is administered by the ASC on behalf of both clubs, in consultation with a representative of the SCGB.

The 7,000-member American Alpine Club, based in Golden, Colo., plans to use the report to lobby against fee-for-rescue legislation and to counter negative publicity surrounding spectacular mountain accidents.
