  Alrewas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alrewas is a village approximately 5 miles north of Lichfield in the county of Staffordshire, England.
It lies on the confluence of the Trent and Mersey Canal and the River Trent, and was previously the seat of Bishop of Lichfield.
Alrewas is sited adjacent to the A38 road, which follows the line of Ryknild Street, a Roman road.

At Fradley we stopped at the BW office to pick up a swipe card for the DIY pumpout we will need at Christmas, the staff were their usual friendly helpful selves and we were soon on our way.
We were moored within sight of Alrewas lock so the Christine and Chris prepared it before I cast off.
We were soon back in the peace and quiet of Alrewas and moored up pretty much where we started.

In 942 Alrewas was known as Alrewasse, and by 1086, as its present-day form, Alrewas.
The Trent and Mersey canal winds through Alrewas and the River Trent is nearby.
Northbound, using the M6, exit at Junction 5, one of the Birmingham exits, and turn north on to the A38, through Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, and on to the Alrewas junction.

Alrewas is a Staffordshire village - not a city, not a town, not even a market town, but a village - of just under 3,000 people, around 120 miles from London.
It's a long-standing tradition which has been the norm for at least as long as I've been involved in theatre (and that's around fifty years!) and it's about time that this particular tradition was jettisoned like the unthinking rubbish it is.

Alrewas was originally Alder Wash, a marshy area containing Alder trees.

Alrewas falling 22 runs short on a final total of 140 in what was a very entertaining game with full credit going to Alrewas, managed by young Tom Chapman, Its so good to see the youngsters giving their time up supporting their junior sides.

I don't remember much about Alrewas, I was only 2 when we moved.
He talked about the old days (60's) to his visitors when he worked on the roads at Alrewas, we all thought he was having us on, we passed the pen around and wrote the name down, (we were all from UK, Yorkshire, Stoke-on-Trent and didn't even know it existed).
We visited Alrewas last week while on a canal boat.

On Sunday I had taken advantage of the calm weather to the take the GN down to the wharf for diesel, coal and a pumpout so she was all set.
Much to our relief this proved to be the case and getting into into Alrewas lock was no problem for either of us.
I noticed again today that, apart from the ash trees (they always drop their leaves early), the remainder seem to have decided autumn has not arrived yet.....

Elias Froggatt (1A1), the son of Edward Froggatt (1Z4) and Catherine (née Reynolds), was baptised on January 29th, 1686/7, at Alrewas, Staffs.
He married Catherine Reynolds on November 9th, 1733 at Alrewas, and they had six children.
Elias’s Will is dated 12 March 1755 and, although he died in 1756, probate was not granted until 5 January 1763.
