Topic: Altbrand

  Altbrand - Comixpedia
Alternative Brand Studios, or Altbrand for short, is a collective of seven creators (six originally but Bob Roberds joined later).
Altbrand was the first (or one of the first) small-scale collectives for webcomics where the creators collectively worked to support each other by pooling their complementary talents.
Some of the collective projects created under the Altbrand label included an annual webcomic telethon to raise money for charity, a monthly guest webcomic, cross-over projects among the member creators, and a webcomic annual CD for 2002 that featured nearly 1000 webcomics from over 30 creators.

Gluemeat - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Case Yorke has names for these characters but has not shared them ever in the comic; therefore, on Gluemeat's original message board on Altbrand, fans began to call them "The Blue Guy" and "The Orange Guy" after their primary colorings.
The comic had a large undergound following, and was part of the webcomic networks Keenspace and later, Altbrand.
Other recurring characters include the constantly stoned video store clerk and the maniacally grinning doctor, whose mission in life is to keep American semen out of the grips of the Arabs.

I write about webcomics at Comixpedia and make webcomics at Altbrand.
I'll probably write here mostly about CMS (Drupal, Postnuke and maybe a bit about WordPress) and futbol (North America adopted the term soccer to describe what the world calls football b/c of American-style football [which let's face it, is basically a variant of rugby] but I prefer the latin american term futbol myself).

Sequential Tart: Brad Guigar — Checking In on Greystone Inn (vol VII/iss 5/May 2004)
AltBrand formed out of that, which was those two guys, Rob Tanner from Burnt Dog Radio (now he's doing Life in Four Panels and Comixpedia), Adam Burke from The Grimbles and Case York from GlueMeat and myself, with Bob Roberds of Soap on a Rope coming along after the first year.
We all formed AltBrand, and that was around the same time in the early Keenspace days.
We were all supporting each other with tips and tricks and all this other stuff; it was a great time...

 Gluemeat - Comixpedia
Gluemeat is a member of Altbrand and it often employs the use of non-sequitur humor.
It should also be noted that Blue Guy and Orange Guy aren't the main characters' real names.
Case Yorke formally was the author and creator of Aren't We Real, an often offensive webcomic starring Petey and Horse (an anthropomorphic equine), and features what some consider to be the filthiest and funniest dialogue ever to grace the webcomic genre.

This month’s piece is my contribution to this past week’s ALTBRAND Comics MDA WebComic Telethon.

On the script side I'd like to point out the ongoing development of a webcomics module for the Drupal system (Comixpedia runs on Drupal) - I have a very Alpha/Beta version running at Altbrand but the coder, Jeff Eaton, is looking for feedback and input on its further development.
With a finished and polished multi-comic module, Drupal would provide webcomics, news, forums, calendar and more to anyone wanting to set up their own site.

I used to have a site called COMIX/PEDIA that was all reviews all the time (http://www.tannline.com/links on archive.org will dig up most of it) I only took it down because I had to move servers.
I hardly think that the two comics projects I've worked on - ALTBRAND, and now again, COMIX/PEDIA fall into the "sites that think traffic equals content" category you're so upset about.
I didn't mean to imply that you were incapable of creating a site with content (I was all behind your comic reviews way back when) only that the blatant "Top 25" list immediately screams, "I HAVE NO CONTENT." It's a hype list.
