		Lithograph of a military scene shows Camp Randall soldiers marching along University Avenue, a troop train, the road on upper Monroe Street with the barracks, prison yard, guard house, officers quarters, stables and general hospital.
		The image should not be significantly altered through conventional or electronic means.

		Since the object papers were not the same as those used in the mock-up, variation in the papers' response to the process was expected.
		The author decided to attempt a reduction of the length of the chine, rather than induce an increase in the length of the plate paper, since the chine was more responsive to moisture.
		An attachment process was now required that would not alter the relative size and shape of the two sheets of paper and would allow careful manipulation of the chine during the attachment process, so that the slight distortion at the lower edge of the sheet could be worked out.

		When the drawing is complete, the lithographer prepares the stone for printing, this is a very delicate procedure.
		Lithograph proofs are always made on a hand press.
		Color lithography requires each of the printing steps to be repeated for each color used, as each color requires a separate stone.

	Review/Art; In Washington, Cassatt's Japanese-Inspired Prints - New York Times
		Mary Cassatt was not the only artist to have been impressed by the exhibition of Japanese ukiyo-e prints at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris during the spring of 1890.
		Cassatt did not arrive easily at her designs but constantly added and subtracted elements, altered colors, experimented with various techniques and in general fiddled with the images until she was completely satisfied.
		Seeing so many of these prints next to related paintings and drawings, as they are in this exhibition, may be as close as we will come to witnessing the artist sitting at her drafting table.

	Twenty-Five Years of American Printmaking
		Moe Brooker's serigraph is characteristic of an earlier manner (1982) with a striped section, a heart and a scattering of drawn stars.
		Nanette Clark's lithograph looks a lot like her collages of strips of paper painted with textile-like patterns.
		In her lithograph, a blue jewel refracts renderings of all kinds of eyes.

	Grimble Gromble's Carl Barks page
		Made into a comic-book story in the 80s, in which the outline was altered by including a scene of angry eagles while dropping the fishline idea.
		1995 lithograph (only 210 were produced), given to people who attended a Barks banquet.
		The litho included a photo of Barks presenting the litho plus a facsimile letter by Barks (dated Jan 30, 1995) about the lithograph.

	Debbie Harry Lithographs
		H.R. Giger may be best known to popular culture as the creator of the wonderfully scary "Alien" creature, but he also spent time designing album covers.
		The original art for this cover had to be changed, as the record company objected to a very phallic image that appeared in it.
		The altered version is what was used for the album cover of "Brain Salad Surgery" by Emerson Lake and Palmer.

		This is an image of a barn I photographed on a farm where my sister takes care of 21 horses.

		Holzer is more famous for putting her slogans on things meant to be inscribed, and the Words example is a 1983 aluminum plaque titled "It is embarrassing..." hung next to Round World's front door.
		And in the 1976 colored lithograph "Ficus Carcia," Twombly scribbles a couple of organic shapes sparely on a vertical sheet of paper.

		When you bought the lithograph the dealer told you it was signed by the artist and was the 25th print out of 100 printed.
		The art dealer asks you for the "Certificate of Authenticity" and when you tell her that you don't have one, the dealer refuses to buy the lithograph telling you that it is not saleable without the certificate.
		If the lithograph is returned within one year from the date of purchase, the law requires the dealer to return the purchase price PLUS interest.

	The Technologies of Nineteenth-Century Illustration: Woodblock Engraving, Steel Engraving, and Other Processes
		The decline in importance of the woodblock over those five decades as new technologies were introduced is evident: in the 1860s, only 6.5% of these books utilised two or more different methods of illustration, but by the 1890s this figure had risen to almost 30%.
		Charles Joseph Hullmandel and J. Harding, the major watercolorist who was Ruskin's drawing teacher, continued to experiment with lithography; one method they tried involved overprinting the lithograph with a single yellow tint to bring out the highlights, patented as the "lithotint" in 1840.
		Some lithographs required more than twenty printings in various colours before they were finished.

	Glorious Prints - Newark Public Library
		The sixty works on view are posters designed by or using images created by the four widely celebrated artists who had great influence on the international art scene during the century just passed.

		He is seen with trade blanket, a pipe tomahawk (either forged iron or brass), an embroidered (possibly beaded) sash, and a scarf around his neck secured with a metal gorget/bolo (possibly an altered peace medal).
		This is a studio lithograph portrait of Washakie from the Salt Lake City studio of Charles Roscoe Savage (1832-1909) and George M. Ottinger (1833-1917).
