LITTLE ROCK - Despite the threat of a lawsuit, the Arkansas Board of Education voted 5-1 on Monday to approve the voluntary merger of the Altheimer United School District with the Dollarway School District.
Altheimer Interim Superintendent Shirley Cunningham told the board that Dollarway was the only neighboring school district that offered to accept her district.
She asked the board on Monday to postpone a vote on the merger until a state study is completed on the impact of busing on students.
