A graduate of Cambridge University with degrees in chemistry, medicine and natural science, MacKenzie joined his father's medical practice but was then called away to serve in the Boer War.

Mr Luper was attacked outside a neighbour’s driveway on Sandmoor Drive in Alwoodley in Leeds as he walked his dog at around 11.30pm on Monday, February 16.
He was dragged back to his home with no signs of a struggle but later pronounced dead in the breakfast room next to the kitchen after his family raised the alarm.
Officers were initially called to the house at Sandmoor Drive, Alwoodley, Leeds at 01:44am on Tuesday 17th Feb after what appears to have been a robbery.

MacKenzie laid out the Crosland Heath course in 1913 and though his original plans and documentation have been misplaced down the years, a report of him carrying out the work was published in the Examiner and that was enough for Nick Leefe, an Alwoodley member and the man behind the MacKenzie Society.
MacKenzie was a founder member at Alwoodley and it was the first course he designed in 1907, followed by Moortown a year later and which in 1929, hosted the first Ryder Cup matches in this country.
After sending off their £50 membership fee, Heath's name will be entered on the Society website and they can enter a four-member team in the MacKenzie Medallion, which will be hosted by Tynemouth on September 11.
