After a major reorganisation in 1996, local government in Wales now consists of 22 unitary authorities, each responsible for the services previously provided by county and district authorities.
Flintshire County Council is one such authority, which inherited a wide variety of computer systems and service contracts formerly operated by Clwyd, Alyn and Deeside, and Delyn Councils.
Following reorganisation, Flintshire embarked on a comprehensive review and rationalisation of IT, the aim being to reduce costs, improve service and increase efficiency.
