AAA is the apotheosis of the masala style as well as the lost-and-found-family drama, made clear even before the opening credits (which arrive half an hour into the film).
AAA became an important part of his star mythos, although, as the academics say, “The masquerade presented by the film helped create an autonomous cult image for the star, which, because not anchored in a coherent narrative, could not be deployed henceforth as a brand image in disparate contexts.” (Rajadhyaksha and Willemen).

Amar Akbar Anthony, Parvarish, Khoon Paseena and Iman Dharam were all multi-starrers, in which Amitabh shared the limelight with other heroes.
Parvarish and Amar Akbar Anthony both initiate a theme which was to begin a veritable hallmark of Desai’s cinema.
Desai was a master of writing taut screenplays, and he successfully show cased Amitabh’s great comic talent in Amar Akbar Anthony, especially in the scene where a drunken Amitabh tries to bandage himself before a mirror, and ends up putting the Band-Aid on the mirror.

Amar Akbar Anthony compresses hours of trashy 70s TV and low-budget exploitation films into one concentrated 3-hour dose, distinguishing itself from its American inspirations only by being in Hindi (mostly) and throwing in some spectacularly nonsensical but cool musical numbers.
The three titular brothers are seperated by a cruel twist of fate as children, growing up to be, respectively, a Hindu police officer, a Muslim singer, and a Christian bar-owner, which allows a variety of low-budget staples to be incorporated.
Amar Akbar Anthony has a joyfully dismissive attitude towards connective narrative exposition, skipping all the boring parts.

 Films - "Amar Akbar Anthony" (1977) - Bollywood501
"Amar Akbar Anthony" or 'AAA' as it came to be called (The use of title initials are affectionate abbreviations with Bollywood fans.) brought together three heavyweight heroes of the 70s who were at the top of their fame; Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, and Vinod Khanna.
Anthony (played by Amitabh Bachchan) is the son who grows up to be a good hearted swaggering bad boy, the rogue hero.
'AAA' is a 'hero' film, the heroines are secondary and in fact the romance in the film is basically there to showcase how loyal, protective, funny, and entertaining Amar, Akbar, and Anthony really are.
