Amar Shonar Bangla (My Golden Bengal) (Bangla:আমার সোনার বাংলা) is a song written and composed by the poet Rabindranath Tagore.
The word shonar literally means 'made of gold', but in the song shonar Bangla expresses the preciousness of Bengal.
The song was written in 1906 during the period of Bangabhanga (Bôngobhôngo - 1905 Partition of Bengal) - when Bengal was divided in two halves by the British government based on religion.

Almost all Bangladeshis speak Bangla, as it is the national language of their country, but it is also the state language of West Bengal, India, and there are significant Bangla-speaking communities in India (particularly Assam and Tripura) and in Western countries with significant migrant influx.

As far as I know Bangla movies still don't have "wide screen" and sound mixing is still done with premitive styles/equipment.
I find older bangla movies technically more sound and approachable than what comes out these days.

As Bangladeshis we are enamored by the nostalgic past whereby history seems to suggest of a Sonar Bangla (golden Bengal) that was prosperous, progressive, vibrant, dynamic, resourceful as well as a beautiful land with some people that were open, valiant, tolerant and rich in its culture, legacy, heritage and history.
It was not a coincidence that the national anthem that was chosen is a constant reminder of that nostalgic reminiscence of Sonar Bangla:
Indeed, those who chose the national anthem FOR the nation and are most boisterous in their rhetoric about Sonar Bangla seem to have done the worst in their treatment of their mother, Sonar Bangla.

Tagore was born in 1861 at Jorasanko in Calcutta (West Bengal, India) and at the age of seventeen (1878) he was sent to England for studies.
Visions in Tagore’s “Amar Sonar Bangla” was truly and only intended for the restoration of “United Bengal” in 1906 and never delivered for a separated wing of United Bengal, namely “Bangladesh” as we see today.

On March 23 Dhaka radio station broadcast 'Amar Sonar Bangla' (My golden Bengal), a song written by Rabindranath Tagore, as the national anthem of independent Bangladesh.
The flag and the national anthem were decided earlier in a largely attended meeting of the Dhaka University Students Union (DUCSU) on March 2, 1971, to protest against the postponement of the National Assembly session schedule to be held in Dhaka on March 3.
In that meeting they declared the independence of Bangladesh, burnt the flag of Pakistan, hoisted the 'Bangladesh national flag' and adopted Tagore's 'Amar Sonar Bangla' as the national anthem of Bangladesh.

About bangla blogging though...nah, I ain't continuing mine (for the time being).
The main reason (unlike yours) is not the mental retardedness of an average Bangladeshi blogger, but the fact that TYPING IN BANGLA SUCKS DONKEY BALLS...I mean, sure we wanna be patriotic sometimes, but posting a blog item for like 3 hours is unimaginable.
