The Amboise conspiracy was the conspiracy of Condé and the Huguenots in 1560 against Francis II, Catherine de' Medici, and the Guises.
Charles VIII was born in a castle at Amboise.

Our friends Jon and Lisa were staying in a farmhouse south of Tours in the Loire valley and we had arranged to stay with them for a couple of days.
Loches is an excellent choice as a base for the chateaux you wish to visit, as is Amboise.
