AmbroseLAUHonChuen GBS JP (劉漢銓) (born July 16, 1947) was the chairman of the Hong Kong Progressive Alliance (HKPA), a pro-business and pro-Beijing political party in Hong Kong.
Lau obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of London.
He served as the chairman of the Central and Western District Board from 1988 to 1994, and was the President of the Law Society of Hong Kong from 1992 to 1993.
Ambrose was elected president; and Palladius, being called upon to defend his opinions, declined, insisting that the meeting was a partial one, and that, all the bishops of the empire not being present, the sense of the Christian church concerning the question in dispute could not be obtained.
Ambrose was equally zealous in combating the attempt made by the upholders of the old state religion to resist the enactments of Christian emperors.
Ambrose's intense episcopal consciousness furthered the growing doctrine of the Church and its sacerdotal ministry, while the prevalent asceticism of the day, continuing the Stoic and Ciceronian training of his youth, enabled him to promulgate a lofty standard of Christian ethics.

The Honourable AmbroseLAU Hon-chuen GBS JP (劉漢銓) (born July 16, 1947) is currently the Chairman of the Hong Kong Progressive Alliance (HKPA), a pro-business and pro-Beijing political party in Hong Kong.
Lau is also a Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (since 1998), and a member of the board of the Urban Renewal Authority (since 2001).
While being the head of a political party, Lau remains relatively low profile and is less well-known among the general public.

Recently, there was the case of Mr AmbroseLauHonChuen who had to appear before Mr Justice Peter Cheung Chak Yau in the Court of the First Instance over the princely sum of $HK26.
It is apparent that the prosecution of Mr Lau was, initially at least, the work of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) which, without question, investigated the matter and, ascertaining that there was a prima facie case against Mr Lau, sent the paperwork up the line to the Office of the Attorney General for evaluation.
One would have thought that Mr Justice Peter Cheung must have been thinking, while viewing the application of Mr AmbroseLau for an exemption under the law, as to whether or not it was in the interests of the State to pursue this trifling matter.

Hong Kong Progressive Alliance chairman AmbroseLau Hon-chuen yesterday made a last-minute decision not to stand in the elections after he failed to identify a constituency to contest.
The alliance said in a statement that its central committee had considered whether Mr Lau, who was returned by the 800-member Election Committee in the 2000 election, should run.
Since a suitable constituency could not be found, Mr Lau had decided not to stand, but would consider a challenge in the future, it said.

The Chief Executive has re-appointed Dr Lau Wah-sum as Chairman of the Land Development Corporation (LDC) from January 1, 2001 to April 30, 2001, or until the date on which the LDC is dissolved, whichever is earlier.
"The current term of appointment of the Chairman and eleven Board Members of the LDC will expire at the end of the year and has been extended pending the establishment of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA)," the Acting Secretary for Planning and Lands, Mr Patrick Lau Lai-chiu said today (December 21).
"The Government intends to make a submission to the FC in the first quarter of next year and to set up the URA thereafter," Mr Lau said.
