The old-line Zionist organizations in America are one component of Israel’s amen corner in the U.S., naturally enough, but these are probably by far the least influential and are certainly not a decisive factor.
The special place that Israel enjoys in the heart of every neoconservative is due to its nature as a self-created entity: that is, one that reflects their concept of America itself as a country founded on an abstract idea rather than an allegiance to a certain place with a definite history.
Having won the White House, and established a veritable stranglehold on Congress, Israel’s amen corner in the U.S. has infiltrated the national security and diplomatic apparatus via the GOP and effectively controls U.S. policy in the Middle East.

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Shouting at Amen Corner -- and cringing, flinching and crying -- probably has been a common occurrence over the 69 years that the Masters Tournament has been contested.
The late Herbert Warren Wind coined the phrase, “Amen Corner,” in the April 21, 1958 edition of Sports Illustrated after watching the critical action of that year’s tournament, won by Arnold Palmer, unfold in what is literally the back corner of Augusta National’s property.
Originally, Wind’s reference incorporated only the approach shot into the par-4 11th hole, the par-3 12th hole, and the tee shot at the par-5 13th hole, which all occur in close proximity, with water coming into play on each shot.

Israel, also, was America’s staunchest ally during the cold war, and represents all the values that stand in such stark contrast to its neighbors: modernity, democracy, Western culture, all the things that neocons fervently believe must be spread over the entire earth, by force if need be.
The Christian conservatives, however, came from another place altogether, since their interest in Israel is entirely theological.
When the Christians are "raptured" away, then Israel will take the place of the Church on earth, and, according to the dispensationalists, this will mark the beginning of another theological period or "dispensation" supposedly foreseen in the Bible.

Golf Blogger: A Blog About Everything Golf - Shouting At The Amen Corner
Few phrases in sports evoke as strong an image as “the Amen Corner.” Coined in 1958 by golf writer Herbert Warren Wind, it refers specifically to the second half of the 11th, the 12th, and the first half of the 13th holes at Augusta National, site of the Masters Tournament.
Wind, who was writing for Sports Illustrated, used the phrase to describe the scene of the critical action of the 1958 Masters, when Arnold Palmer earned his first major Championship.
Wind later said that he was looking for a phrase like “coffin corner” in football, or baseball’s “hot corner”, but that all he could come up with was the title of the song, “Shouting At The Amen Corner,” by Milton (Mezz) Mezzrow.
