Topic: Amenonuhoko

Amenonuhoko - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
According to Japanese mythology, the gods Izanagi and Izanami were responsible for creating the first land.
To help them do this, they were given a spear decorated with jewels, named Amenonuhoko.
The two deities then went to the bridge between heaven and earth and churned the sea below with the spear.

Much like Excalibur, Kusanagi's high profile has made it popular appearing in various fictions.
Its appearance typically signals the nearing of an end of the storyline as it is the most powerful item next to the divine spear, Amenonuhoko which was used to create islands of Japan.
But unlike Excalibur, it is rare for characters to actually use one in a combat as it is a ceremonious weapon and instead, its magical properties are stressed.

These two and five pairs combined are called Kamiyonanayo (Seven generations of Kami).
While standing on the bridge, Amenoukihashi (floating bridge of heaven) between heaven and earth, the god Izanagi and the goddess Izanami, churned the sea with the spear decorated with jewels given from Amatsukami, Amenonuhoko (heavenly spear) and from the salt dripping from the spear, Onogoro (selforming) island formed itself.
Even though there should be nothing on the island, they mated in the Yahirodono (the room of eight footsteps?) around the pole Amenomihashira and bore many islands and deities.
