		Rev. Ament was born and raised in Owosso and graduated from Andover Seminary in New York with a Doctor of Divinity degree in 1877.
		Earlier in his life, Ament was no stranger to Owosso, he would return to his home town in 1885 and on one occasion incurred the wrath of the City Council by scourging Owosso as on of the worst cities in the State of Michigan.....

		Ament also was honored with the deanÕs award for outstanding service from the UB medical school in 1986, and in 1996, he received the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the UB Alumni Association.
		A member of many medical organizations, Ament was president of the New York Society of Anesthesiologists in 1967, a governor of the American College of Anesthesiologists from 1975-77 and treasurer of the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists from 1984-1992.
