  American Axle trims forecast
American Axle, which makes drivetrain systems for light trucks, lowered its first-quarter earnings per share forecast to 25 cents to 30 cents from its Feb. 2 estimate of 40 cents to 45 cents, the company said in a statement Wednesday.
American Axle blamed an expected 18-percent and 20-percent decline in light-truck production in the quarter.
American Axle shares rose 68 cents or 2.7 percent to $25.75 on the New York Stock Exchange.

It was formed in 1994 from a number of General Motors (GM) plants and continues to serve that manufacturer with suspensions, differentials, and similar components.
GM has remained their largest customer, accounting for approximately 70-80% of their business as of 2005, supplying the driveline components for essentially the entire range of vehicles based on the GMT platforms, which are rear wheel drive (RWD) and 4WD/AWD trucks and SUV's.
