RollingStone.com: American Caesar : Iggy Pop : Review
What elevates American Caesar from merely a good album to a great one is that the songs are sequenced in a way that sharpens the record's dynamics – musically, stylistically and thematically.
On American Caesar's 16 tracks, the protopunk rocker reclaims the slashing, psychedelic-tinged grunge rock he helped pioneer as a Stooge and takes an uncompromising confessional jaunt through loneliness, hatred, jealousy, paranoia and, ultimately, love.
Iggy Pop's last album, Brick by Brick (1990), seemed as if it might be his swan song – one last blast of creative juice after a decade's worth of mostly uninspired dreck.

 Amazon.com: American Caesar: Music
American Caesar still sounds fresh and hip, but the melodies also evoke classic Iggy albums like Lust for Life and Soldier.
From its burst of manic divinity in "Highway Song" and "Boogie Boy" to those softer audible ghosts, "Jealousy" and "F-in' Alone," "American Caesar" solidifies Iggy Pop as one of the most original voices ever to emerge from the American rock scene.
While I understand that we all come from different musical backgrounds and aesthetical tastes, I have to say that, in this case, rock fans who fail to comprehend this album's flawlessness and power are either not listening or need to check themselves for a pulse.

 BEAT'EM UP
Love it or hate it, Beat Em Up is inarguably one of the most appropriate titles Iggy Pop attached to an album in years; after an ill-advised detour into something resembling jazz on 1999's Avenue B, Iggy shifted gears again and served up his most physically punishing album since American Caesar in 1993.
beat 'em up was the first album i picked up and is still my favorite iggy pop stuff.
Beat Em Up starts out promisingly enough with "Mask," a hyperinsistent three-chord blast that, with its energetic riffing and manic vocals, sounds more like a prime Stooges number than anything he's cooked up in ages.

Laura Love : Helvetica Bold - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
But we all know that Laura Love is glossing on her unique style of music, which she calls "Afro-Celtic." And Love delivers the goods with her best album to date: great songs, great yodeling, great fiddling and steel guitar.
Helvetica Bold is actually the name of a modern typeface, but as the notes explain, Laura Love means it to refer to the ancient Helvetii, a Celtic people in the time of Julius Caesar.
The best song on the disc is the kickoff track "A Ha Me A Riddle I Day," an original which straddles the divide between a Celtic reel and an African-American nursery rhyme song, a la Bo Diddley.
