American Dental Association fals claims on Amalgam, dental mercury health risk
The researchers concluded that mercury vapor released from dental amalgam fillings is readily absorbed in lung, gastrointestinal tract and jaw bone and progressively accumulates in maternal and fetal tissues with exposure duration.
The ADA, by promoting the use of this document and pamphlet W186, is apparently suggesting that dentists deliberately violate their own code of ethics and withhold vital information from their patients and the public.
The ADA and CDA Principals of Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct was recently changed to say, "the removal of amalgam restorations from the non-allergic patient for the alleged purpose of removing toxic substances from the body, when such treatment is performed solely at the recommendation or suggestion of the dentist, is improper and unethical".

Anti-Fluoridation Dentist Sues the American Dental Association for Defamation
Communications between the Association and its members, on a matter of common interest pertinent to the group or affecting their mutual interests, are qualifiedly privileged.
The publication of scientific data, the evaluation thereof, and the arguments pro and con on the merits and effectiveness of fluoridation, by dental and medical associations, their members and other interested individuals and groups, are highly desirable and the question becomes a proper subject of public comment.
One further issue remains to be considered and that is the Association's publications in which plaintiff is not named, directly or indirectly, but which he contends pertain to him as one of the group opposing fluoridation.

The ADA looks forward to continued dialogue as significant work lies ahead for all those involved in establishing and modifying the standards, ensuring uniformity in the use of standard transactions, and overseeing and updating the process as needed.
Dental claims data in its current form does not provide researchers with the ability to study treatment patterns and the outcomes of care.

The ADA agrees with the basic principles of those who would control us--but hopes to limit the damage through appeasement or by providing "input." There is a right to dental care--but the government should not tell us what to do.
The Dental Society of the State of New York supports a mandatory child abuse recognition course and devises mandatory CE guidelines for the government--but is against mandatory CE.
The ADA tries to combine two explicitly contradictory positions: 1) dental care should be guaranteed as a right for some Americans including all under 18 years, and 2) dentistry should be left out of the reform proposals, since the private delivery system has provided excellent care without driving prices into the stratosphere.

After evaluating current informatics activities, the ADA approved a group of projects relating to clinical activities and a task group of the ASC MD156 was created by the ADA to initiate the development of technical reports, guidelines and standards for administrative and clinical applications used in dental practice.
The ADA's document, which is referred to as the ADA 1000, is a framework for the specification of a clinical data architecture and it applies to the application data interface of a health care information system.
While the ADA is fully supportive of ongoing efforts to develop a computer-based patient record, and we are active participants in the development of such standards, we believe this is an issue separate from the insurance transactions currently being considered by NCVHS and beyond the mandates of P.L 104-191.

The Alliance calls for OSHA and the ADA to explore ways to determine whether ergonomics instruction is currently being included in dental schools' educational programs, and then encourage the incorporation of sound and proven ergonomics techniques into such curricula.

However, it is a well known fact in the published, peer-reviewed dental journals that mercury leaks directly from amalgam into adjacent oral tissues causing periodontal disease (gum disease).
Murray Vimey is one of the top mercury researchers in the world and he has provided a detailed chronology documenting how mercury has been clearly established as a contributing factor for periodontal disease.
Such statements by American Dental Association spokespersons suggest that the American Dental Association and its advisors may be knowingly disinforming the public through the media or that they may lack an understanding of the scientific research about mercury release from amalgam published in their own journals.
