Frank Gaffney, columnist and another of the panelists, said that the problems in the Middle East were the fault of only one side not living up to its Oslo commitments, he said that it wasn’t necessary to identify which party it was, that everybody knew, and then explained that he meant the Palestinians.

I would not wish to give a formula for when government intervention is desirable?I think that government has an important role in the domestic economy and society, from monetary stability to crime prevention to environmental quality, and that the important question is whether government is performing those roles effectively and responsibly.
Most of the interesting action in the think tank world in recent decades has been on the right, and it would be a good thing for all concerned for there to be some interesting new voices from the left.
The major question about the American Majority Institute is whether it will be independent of the partisan ambitions of the Democratic Party; I hope that it will be, and I wish them well.
