North American Highs moves eastwards across the continent, often in the company of one or more low-pressure cells or cyclones.
The North American High is akin to the Siberian High of Eurasia, but it is much smaller, and it has much less world-wide influence on the weather of the Northern Hemisphere.

The series is made up of footage of the students and their parents as well as the students own "video diaries," in which they chronicle their lives in and out of schools they face family conflicts, romance, and issues of sexual identity, loneliness, peer pressure, grades and decisions about college.
There is no word on how the acquisition of "American High" will effect PBS' similar project "Senior Year," also a documentary series on high school focusing on high school students, which is currently in post-production.
One difference between the two series is that "American High" takes place in a predominately white suburb, while "Senior Year" takes place in a Los Angeles inner city high school with a group of students that are more ethnically diverse.
