American Music Award - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The American Music Awards show is one of four annual major US music awards shows (the others being the Billboard Music Awards, the Grammy Awards, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony).
The AMAs were created by Dick Clark in 1973 to compete with the Grammys after the move of that year's show to Nashville, Tennessee led to CBS picking up the Grammy telecasts after its first two in 1971 and 1972 were broadcast on ABC.
The record for the most American Music Awards won in a single year is held by both Michael Jackson (for 1983's Thriller), and Whitney Houston (for 1993's The Bodyguard Soundtrack), each with 8 awards to their credit (including the Award of Merit, which both artists were awarded during their respective year).

It's like the lame People Choice Awards where they have 3 nominees but usually the one that wins is not the HOT one that year but rather the one that really did nothing that year but was very newsworthy 2 or 3 years back or is liked eg.
After 3 yrs she has entered the music world again dazzeling the entire world with her lyrics and music, videos, appearances and really reaching out to all of her fans on a personal level.
