Amerika is a village in the German state of Saxony.
As a small village of 120 citizens, it is known merely for its name, the German word for America, which was given to it in the 19th century.
The name became official when in 1876 (the year of the 100th birthday of the United States of America by the way) the village's railway station was named "Amerika".

A surprisingly large number of children who grew up in the country learned to speak these dialects at home before entering Kindergarten where they were taught English, but not German.
