		Ames was founded near a location that was deemed favorable for a railroad crossing of the Skunk River.
		Ames is home of Iowa State University of Science and Technology, a space grant college, at its founding, the state's (Morrill Act) land-grant university, formerly known as the Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts.
		Ames is located on Interstate 35, U.S. Route 30 and 69, and the cross country line of the Union Pacific Railroad.

		Two men in the Sacramento Kiwanis club, who were high school administrators, approached their club with the idea of a junior service club in the high school, to be patterned after Kiwanis and to have its own classifications based on school interests and to hold luncheon meetings.

	Information about City Hall
		It later became a Junior High School and then eventually a new Middle School was built and the building sat empty for a few years.
		The City of Ames purchased the building in the late 1980s and with the help of a bond issue, renovated the building to bring many City Departments together under one roof.
