  Amiga
The original Amiga Inc.[?] company was bought out in 1984 by Commodore International, who marketed the Amiga as their intended successor to the Commodore 64.
The last Amigas to be made were the A1200 and the A4000[?].
The Amiga chipsets, OCS, ECS and AGA, were more advanced than other architectures of their time.

AmigaOS4 will run on classic Amiga hardware equipped with a PPC accelerator, so there's a bit of a grey area as to whether or not to call this a "Classic Amiga", but the hardware most certainly is.
The entire computer was inside the keyboard in the style of the Commodore64 yet under the hood it was even more powerful than the Amiga 1000 since it had an enhanced chipset, yet sadly the same processor.

On many old keyboards sooner or later you have the problem that the one or another key doesn't respond anymore.
Most keyboards work after the following principle: Every key has a attached conductible contact made of rubber which shorteness a contact on the keyboard-mainboard when the key is pressed.
Such keyboards suffer from a scuff of the conductive coating of the rubber or the main board.

And because they were also seen as a serious computer, with a keyboard and mouse, parents were happy to get one because they were inexpensive, you could type reports on them, and they were very easy to use.
Still I chose the Amiga over the Mac for several reasons- It had a color display, more memory, was expandable, had stereo audio, a built in voice synthesizer, and a cool OS with pre-emptive multitasking.
And Amiga's were also used extensively for producing low budget special effects and appeared on television shows, like Babylon 5 and some Star Trek TNG episodes, but also in several motion pictures.

It provides an alternative to the relatively expensive Amiga keyboard; though it may not provide significant savings on the initial investment, keyboard replacements in the future will be much less expensive.
I won't recommend it as an upgrade for a user who already has a working keyboard, but for those who need to replace their keyboard, or who are interested in the specialized varieties of AT keyboards, it is an excellent choice.

Amiga Keyboard Garage   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
One of the nicest features of the original Amiga 1000 model (AmigaComputer) was the keyboard garage.
By making the keyboard small enough to fit under the CPU box, and providing a place for it, the rather sizable (almost twice the footprint of the Apple Macintosh - see AppleMacintoshDesign) keyboard garage let it fit on a small work area without taking up any more room.
Unfortunately, the keyboard garage was discarded in the 2000 and subsequent desktop and tower models, and irrelevant for the 500 series, in which the computer was built into the large keyboard.

Amiga floppy drives are Amiga specific as well, so they can become a bit pricey to replace.

A special socket is placed over top of the keyboard-chip of the Amiga, and a cable makes connection to the backplane where the keyboard can be connected.
A jumper on Lyra can do small changes to the keymap that brings the layout a little closer to a real Amiga keyboard: The ALT and Windows-keys are swapped, so the Amiga keys are located directly next to the space key.
The layout of the numeric keypad will be a 100% copy of the Amiga keypad: This will only be useful for keyboards that have 18 keys on the numpad (most PC/Windows keyboards have 17 keys there).
