Amos Otis and Nolan Ryan were two of the most promising young players the "Amazing Mets" had in the late 1960s.
Otis spoke about many fascinating things that happened to him during his career and ended the conversation with an anecdote that illustrates the rapport, camaraderie, and rivalries that exist among major league players.
On April 29, 1962, Amos Otis became only the second player in Major League history to be hit with a pitch twice during the same inning.

Amos Joseph Otis (born April 26, 1947 in Mobile, Alabama) is a former center fielder in Major League Baseball who played for the New York Mets (1967, 1969), Kansas City Royals (1970-1983) and Pittsburgh Pirates (1984).
Otis was both reviled and loved during his playing career for his extremely smooth playing style.
Still, Otis was an incredibly consistent player, a building block of the great Kansas City Royals teams of the 1970s.

Originally signed by the Red Sox, Otis was drafted by the Mets and went to the Royals with pitcher Bob Johnson in a lopsided December 1969 trade for third baseman Joe Foy.
During his tenure, one of the most popular chants in Royals Stadium was "A-O, A-O." The dapper Otis was criticized at times for a casual demeanor, lack of aggressiveness, and one-handed catches, but he won three Gold Gloves and three times was named Royals Player of the Year.
Otis reached 3B when Angels pitcher Nolan Ryan makes two of his three errors trying to pick his former teammate off base.
