Buldhana district is bounded in the north by the Nirmur district of Madhya Pradesh, in the east by Akola district, in south by Parbhani district and in the west by Aurangabad and Jalgaon district.
This is one of the youngest districts of Maharashtra.
It is bounded by Pune district to the north, Solapur district to the east, Sangli district to the south, and Ratnagiri district to the west.

Amravati District with the rest of the Berar was assigned to the East India Company by the Nizam following the treaty of 1853.
In 1864,the district of Yeotmal was separated from Amravati.In 1903, the Treaties of Assignment were superseded by an agreement under which the Nizam leased Berar to the Government of India in perpetuity.
Amravati district covers an area of 12626 sq.kms.The districts adjacent to Amravati are Nagpur, Akola, Wardha, Yeotmal, and the state of Madhya Pradesh.

P.S. Dalu, Additional District Health Officer, told The Hindu that between April 2004 and March 2005, 468 children died in the Dharni and Chikaldhara talukas, which comprise the Melghat region of Amravati district.
He suffers from acute pain and though he was hospitalised in Dharni, there was no change in his condition, according to Bhimsingh, who lives in Baru village.

 Polio case detected in Amravati
Maharashtra State Directorate of Health has confirmed a new case of polio in an 18-month-old girl child in Amravati district, and will take up the next round of immunisation there and in its neighbourhood in March.
The case was discovered on January 4, but was reported to district health authorities on January 8 and confirmed on February 10, she said.
This is the sixth case since last year, but in this case the child belongs to a Maharashtrian family and nothing to do with Uttar Pradesh as in other cases, she said.
