The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are a Major League Baseball franchise based in Anaheim, California and aligned in the Western Division of the American League.
After the 1957 season, the Angels and their crosstown rivals, the Hollywood Stars, were forced to relocate when the National League Brooklyn Dodgers confirmed their long-rumored move to Los Angeles for the 1958 season.
On January 3, 2005 Angels Baseball, LP, the ownership group for the team, announced that it would change the name of the club from the Anaheim Angels to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
