  Digital vs. Analog
Analog electronics is that branch of electronics that people usually think of when they think of electronics.
In analog electronics, voltages and currents can take on practically any value (to within the physical limitations of the equipment or electrical components of the circuit being used).
Digital electronics is that branch of electronics that deals with such beasts as logic gates, counters, flip-flops, or, more generically, the digital integrated circuit chip (often simply called circuit chips).

So it turns out the digital revolution is driving strong demand for advances in analog electronics, an arcane realm in which tens of thousands of products translate reality into 1s and 0s for computers and retranslate digital results into forms humans can perceive.
But it was not until the company began concentrating on electronics for communications in the 1990s that the role of analog electronics became central to its business strategy.
Analog Devices, based in Norwood, Mass., has "extraordinarily high gross margins" similar to Linear's for its converter and analog amplifier segments, according to a presentation by Jerald G. Fishman, Analog's chief executive, to investors in New York in June.

Images are obtained by sweeping a narrow beam of acoustic energy into a living body and analyzing the pattern of the energy reflected back by structures within the body, much like a search radar.
Since the receiving transducers are dealing with analog signals, but the analysis is performed digitally, the signals must be digitized.
The signals are conducted to and from the ceramic elements in the hand piece to the front-end electronics via a cable, which will be subject to noise and attenuation.

 Configuring the Analog Input
While the analog input is normally scaled to accept 10V, this leaves a 2V margin to help control overshoot and keep the system out of saturation.
However, analog electronics are imperfect and often have many millivolts of offset voltage present on them.
An analog dead band establishes a voltage around the 0V input where the drive forces the reading to be 0 volts as long as the actual voltage present does not exceed the dead band setting.

Thus, although many of todays electronic systems are based on digital circuits, from hand-held calculators to the most sophisticated supercomputers, all of these systems eventually need to be interfaced with the analog world.
The analog signals received from (or transmitted to) the outside world will often require amplification, processing to remove noise, and filtering to enhance the signal spectrum of interest before they are fed into digital computers.
Analog circuit design is a major branch of electronics that is necessary and vital for any person who is graduating with a degree in electrical engineering and electronic circuits and systems.

After all, electronics is somewhat less obvious than, say, mechanical engineering, where you can readily observe the action of the various gears, pulleys, and levers.
Analog circuits, on the other hand, can contain a range of possible values, for example the voltages traveling through an audio amplifier that powers a loudspeaker.
Further, since electronic components are less expensive than copper and iron, a power supply that is twice as complex may still be cheaper to build if it can use a smaller transformer.

It is an ideal first textbook on electronics for scientists and engineers and an indispensable reference for anyone, professional or amateur, who works with electronic circuits.
Simply, it is an electronic treasure, it covers a very wide range of electronics plus a very helpful circuits, but it has one disadvantage, that is, the excercises inside the book, they must be solved in the end of the book just to be sure that you are doing well with the book.
Electronics is very similar to physics, and this books mirrors that approach by introducing simple approximations first, then teaching you where the simple models break down and you have to employ a second approximation, and so on.
