Topic: Analog sampled filter

Analog sampled filter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An analog sampled filter an electronic filter that is a hybrid between an analog and a digital filter.
Distinct analog samples are shifted through an array of holding capacitors as in a bucket brigade.
The analog sampled filter will in its turn need yet another anti-aliasing filter, but this can often be implemented as a simple 1st order low-pass analog filter consisting of one series resistor and one capacitor to ground.

Filter design - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The design of linear analog filters is for the most part covered in the linear filter section.
The complexity (i.e., steepness) of such filters depends on the required signal to noise ratio and the ratio between the sampling rate and the highest frequency of the signal.
FIR filters are generally easier to design: The Remez exchange algorithm is one suitable method for designing quite good filters semi-automatically.

Electronic filter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A filter in which the signal passes through an inductor, or in which a capacitor provides a path to earth, therefore presents less attenuation to low-frequency signals than high-frequency signals and is a low-pass filter.
Active filters are implemented using a combination of passive and active (amplifying) components.
Another method of filtering, at frequencies from 800MHz to about 5GHz, is to use a synthetic single-crystal garnet sphere made of a chemical combination of titanium, iron and nitrogen.

A sample of charge is transferred to the floated diffused region causing a change in potential thereof which is representative of the quantity of charge transferred to the diffused region.
During a first period of time quantities or packets of charge representing samples of analog signal are introduced into the shift register and are clocked along from stage to stage until each packet is located in the respective stage or cell in which processing is to be carried out thereon.
The same analog signals are applied to input circuit 86 of channel A and input circuit 88 of channel B. The same bias voltage is applied from bias voltage source 32 to the input circuits 88 and 89 and also to the lateral drain 34.

 FIR Filter
FIR, or Finite Impulse Response, filters have the distinctive trait that their impulse response lasts for a finite duration of time as opposed to IIR, or Infinite Impulse Response, filters whose impulse response is infinite in duration.
Filter Solutions offers 1st, 2nd, and 3rd order compensations that maintain the FIR characteristic of the filter and approximate X/Sin(X) that are valid for frequencies up to half the sample rate.
The purpose of the Matched Filter is to maximize the signal to noise ratio and to minimize the probability of undetected errors received from a signal.

Programmable bandpass digital filter of analog signal - Patent 4004236   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
In the digital filter of the present invention, an analog input signal of a frequency F.sub.A is initially tested for minimum amplitude and is then converted to a binary digital waveform which is edge-detected to provide an edge pulse for every cycle of the analog input signal.
The special-purpose digital filter of the present invention basically establishes a fixed sample time T.sub.S during which the actual number N.sub.A of cycles or pulses of a binary digital signal that is derived from a sampled analog signal is counted.
At the end of the sample time the True or False state of the flip-flop is gated into a memory element, the associated True or False output of which enables or disables an AND gate to couple or to not couple the binary digital signal to user equipment.

To achieve a similar slope, an analog filter would have to be a 30th order filter to achieve this performance.
For the same reason, they exhibit the same or worse nonlinear phase characteristics as their analog counterparts since the equivalent of poles and zeros in linear systems is reproduced with an IIR digital filter.
Digital filters primarily are used when transfer-function requirements have no counterpart in the analog world or when a DSP already resides on the circuit board to perform other functions.

Analog memory for storing digital information - Patent 4445189   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
In one embodiment, a digital to analog converter is used to convert digital information from a digital processor to analog signal form for storage in an analog memory and an analog to digital converter is used to convert analog signals stored in the analog memory to digital signal form for processing with the digital processor.
Analog information from the analog memory can be used with a digital processor by converting the analog information to digital signal form such as with an analog to digital converter.
Therefore a complete analog parameter may be stored in one CCD memory element in direct contrast to prior art digital memories which merely store one digital bit of one word in a CCD memory element, thereby achieving greater storage density and lower cost per word with the memory arrangement of the present invention.
