A field experiment was conducted at wet land block of S. Agricultural College Farm, Tirupati campus of Acharya N. Ranga Agricultural University during rabi 2002 to study the relative efficacy of herbicides against weeds in tranplanted rice.
Field experiments were conducted to evaluate the manurial value of Agrimagic during kharif 2001 at GKVK, Bangalore in comparison with FYM and inorganic fertilizers in terms of yield, yield components and nutrient uptake in selected dry land crops viz., finger millet, sunflower, groundnut and pigeonpea.
An investigation was carried out to assess the variability, heritability and genetic advance for seven characters viz., plant height, root length, number of nodes on main stem, number of roots per plant, number of seeds per capsule, 1000-seed weight and seed yield per plant in 108 sesamum genotypes during the year 2001-02.

The present study was taken up to measure the effectiveness of multimedia of paddy cultivation in education system.
There was a substantial net gain in as well as retention of knowledge for seedling raising of paddy crop of the students of selected agricultural diploma schools on viewing the multimedia.
The results reflected that the knowledge level before viewing the multimedia was correlated with some of the personal characteristics of the students; while no such correlation was observed with the level of knowledge after viewing the multimedia besides at the level of retention.

He said Bush would visit the demonstration field in the university campus at Rajendranagar where new varieties of hybrid crops are being grown on an experimental basis.
The university scientists will also brief Bush on the SRI (Systems Rice Intensification) method of cultivation developed by them, which boosts yield by 37 per cent and reduces water requirement by 35 per cent.
The agriculture department launched the initiative to popularise SRI paddy cultivation during the current crop year by organising 14,400 demonstrations during kharif and rabi seasons at a cost of Rs 25 million (slightly less than $0.5 million).

During experiments in 2003-2004 at the Agricultural College and Research Institute and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Killkulam, Tamil Nadu, it was found that, on average, 53% less irrigation water was used in SRI farms.
During experiments at Anand Agricultural University, Gujarat, it was found that while the conventional practice yielded 5,840 kg/ha of grain, the SRI method yielded 5,813 kg/ha, with 46% less water usage.
The state department of agriculture held demonstration trials in all rice-growing areas of the state during the 2004 season.

When the AAU did not respond to the eviction notice, Urvashi Devi, who lives in a farm house 50km away, and her son reached the palace and threw out all the furniture and locked the main gate after compelling the staff to leave.
Enraged, Urvashi Devi, who was also upset by the dilapidated state of her family’s palace, put another lock, but the district collector sealed the palace as the situation worsened with the AAU researchers lodging a police complaint against the scion of the Baria clan.

Therefore, the reduction in employment for hired labour in areas where the tobacco crop is replaced with other crops would result in increased economic and food insecurity, not only among a large section of the landless in rural areas but also among the marginal and small-scale farming families.
However, based on field surveys carried out by Gujarat Agricultural University, Anand, in selected tobacco growing districts in Gujarat and Karnataka, the small-scale producers account for about a quarter of the tobacco area.
