Martin Sostre is one of the best-known people of color in contemporary history to articulate anarchist politics, as was Kuwasi Balagoon.
Many people of color feel isolated and intimidated into silence by a movement and want a space where they can speak and not feel like their loyalty to the movement is being questioned by talking about racism.
If the anarchist movement was dealing with the overt and covert racists, the morons, the hippies who think we’re all alike and the overaggressive asshole crackers in its scenes — not to mention the lack of political clarity —instead of tolerating it, we’d have a different ballgame.

Anarchists historicly have faced brutal repression at the hands of the state.
It is fundamental to the anarchist ideals that we question the government and it's mechanisms of control- namely war- the prison industrual complex- the divisions of sex and race- and the dominance of all life.
For nearly every official "left" spiel about the oppression of "people of color" there are facts, historical or otherwise, that are being left out showing that the same oppression is happening to people of all phenotypes.

The APOC United Front would recognize both individual and collective memberships, but it is the responsibility of individual members to build a local organizing group in their community or city, which can then be certified as a formal collective.

But APOC is something that we can trace back to folks like Lucy Parsons and Martin Sostre of the U.S., Luisa Capetillo of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Magon and Praxedis Guerero of Mexico, Bhagat Singh of India, and others, and later on to Black Panthers like former POW’s Kuwazi Balagoon, Lorenzo Komboa Ervin and Ashanti Alston.
Perhaps this is partly because if anarchism, as a libratory ideology/praxis, is a threat to western hegemony, then people of color who are anarchists are even more unnerving to the webs of power that envelope our lives.
Such structures, networks and, yes, people are all too aware of the abuse that has been perpetuated and are all too conscious of their own illegitimacy and perhaps this fear is more discernable in what is left unwritten in the “official” texts of history than what can be easily found within them.

Last weekend, March 25-27, radical people of color from across the nation gathered in Asheville, North Carolina.
There, at the Southeastern Regional Conference of Anarchist People of Color, we breathed a collective sigh of relief and turned that shared breath into shared struggle: personal, social, and organizational relationships; histories, hopes, and plans for social change.
This perspective seemed pressingly salient to the attending people of color, with the idea voiced repeatedly in many different ways, such as autonomia, zapatismo, hybridity, and recognizing/recreating who we are.

Opponents of this perspective within the Anarchist People of Color camp insist that opposing authority yet placing the needs of people of color above others represents racism, and that fl nationalism would mean using force to exclude people based on the color of their skin and is utterly incompatible with anarchism.

How we fight for reproductive freedom today must be informed by the reality that for many women of color, abortion is just one fight in a larger struggle of class and racial oppression.
Unlike for some white or middle class women, the lack of access to reproductive freedom that many women of color face has more to do with the limitations placed upon them by their ethnic and class background than by the actual legal status of abortion or geographic availability of abortion clinics.
